What is Matsutake

“Autumn of Appetite” is a term used by the Japanese which describes the abundance of food during the season of harvest.

In a country where seasonal cuisine is such a big tradition, it can be said that Matsutake is the symbol of autumn.

Matsutake has been growing in BC for decades, and Kenwest has been delivering BC Matsutake to dinner tables in Japan for over 20 years by sourcing this prestigious wild mushrooms directly from the growing areas in the great wild North.  Residents of North America have started to appreciate this delicacy in recent years.

The aroma and meaty texture of Matsutake brings Autumn buzz to people, and it can be enjoyed as Matsutake gohan (rice), Dobin mushi (soup), grilled Matsutake, in sukiyaki, and even tempura.
